Richard Miller Mattoon

Richard M. Mattoon passed away on June 4, 2012 at Pigeon Forge Care & Rehabilitation Center in Pigeon Forge, TN.

We mourn the loss of a wonderful husband, father and friend, Dick Mattoon, dying at the age of 80 years old.

Preceding him in death is his beloved daughter, Shelley Ann Mattoon.

He is survived by the love of his life, June Porter- Mattoon. He also leaves his son, Mark Mattoon and his wife, Connie of Sevierville, TN.; nieces, Marianne Gray and husband, Dexter of Morristown, TN. and Suzanne Boatner and husband, Scott of Loudon, TN; nephew, Yves Meheut and wife, Regina of Mesa, AZ; stepson, Don Porter and wife, Sheila of Nottingham, FL.; stepdaughters, Sue Murphy and husband, Joe of Lawrenceville, GA. And Jill Mirpuri and husband, Roger of Gatlinburg, TN.; along with step- grandchildren, Pam and Tony Kines of Conyers, GA.; great step-grandchildren, Fisher and Jackson Kines of Conyers, GA.; Kim and Chris Jones of McDonough, GA.; great step-grandchildren, Gabriella and Zachary of McDonough, GA.; Ashley Porter of Nottingham, GA.

Richard is originally from Eastern Pennsylvania and has lived in California and Massachusetts before settling In East Tennessee.

Dick served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed In Taiwan for the majority of his military service. He spoke fluent Mandarin Chinese and also enjoyed photography. He is a graduate of Penn State with a degree In Agriculture Science. He was employed for many years by the Gillette Company in Boston, MA before retiring to Tennessee. He came out of retirement and worked several years at Country Tonite Theater in Pigeon Forge, TN. from which he again retired at age 75. He and his wife, June enjoyed traveling and made several trips to New England and Myrtle Beach with many fond memories.

Services will be held 7:00 P.M. Friday, June 8, 2012 at Rawlings Funeral Home in Sevierville, TN. with Rev. Jerry Page officiating. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 P.M. Friday, June 8, 2012 prior to the service at Rawlings.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Relay for Life.
