Lynn Porter Rawlings, Jr., of Sevierville passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021, at the age of 96.
Lynn was born in Knoxville, but the family returned to Sevierville when he was 5. He began working at the family business, K. Rawlings & Co Furniture and Rawlings Funeral Home when he was in high school. His country called in 1943 and he served as Sargent aboard a B24 Liberator Heavy Bomber. While on leave, he married his longtime sweetheart, Jeanne Fox, on January 11, 1945. After the war, he came home to his wife and baby boy, Mike, in April 1946. He resumed working for the family business. He became a partner in the business in the 1950’s and was a Tennessee licensed Funeral Director. He was manager of the furniture store for over 20 years until it was sold in 1991. The family sold the funeral home in 1986.
Lynn was a longtime member of Sevierville First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the church. He was preceded in death by his son and wife, Michael Lynn and Cindy Rawlings. His parents Mr & Mrs Lynn Rawlings, Sr., sister Josephine and James N. Watson. In-laws, Mary Claire and Frank Morton. James Lee and Charlotte Fox.
He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Jeanne Fox Rawlings; Son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Helen Rawlings; Grandchildren, Hailey and Jake Huskey, Lynn and Patty Jo Rawlings, and Chris Rawlings; Great Grandchildren, Miller Huskey, Rawlin Collier, Jace Huskey, Garret Rawlings, Rylie Jo Rawlings and Cade Price; and Great-Great Grandson, Eli Rawlings.
Family and friends will meet at Middle Creek Cemetery on Wednesday, December 8, for an 11 am graveside service. Reverend Lee Fox, officiating.
