Marvin Dale Taffer, age 53, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2020. Dale was born on October 31, 1966 in Sevierville, TN to his parents Willie Taffer and Joyce Ricker. He graduated from Sevier County High School in 1984. In 1986 he joined the US Army. Dale was a great family man and a loving father. He married Ronda in 1990 and the couple had 1 child, Dakota “Cody”. Dale was a social, active man who was deeply involved in riding horses for the majority of his life. Dale was a fireman in Hopemills NC from 1991-1996. He served in Desert Storm and was a horse farrier most of his adult life. He loved riding his motorcycle with the Fire and Iron Motorcycle Club and worked as a blacksmith for Dollywood.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Taffer, stepmother, Nancy Taffer, Grandparents, Carl and Angeline Taffer, and Orton and Lyda Walker, uncles, Ray and Jimmy (big Jim) Taffer, and cousin Denna Taffer.
Dale is survived by his wife of 29 years, Ronda Taffer, his son, Dakota “Cody” James, mother, Joyce Ricker, and his brother, Jimmy (Alison) Taffer. He is also survived by his aunt, Maxine Beeler, cousins, Marsha (Gary) Buttry, Nathan Layman, and DeeDee Taffer. Father and Mother in Law, Jimmy and Linda Tatum, nieces, Shannon (Brice) Blair, Tara Thompson and fiancé Josh Smith, and Stacy, Kris, and Bobbie Arender, along with several great nephews and nieces. He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters of the Fire and Iron Motorcycle Club.
The family will receive friends for Dale on March 7, 2020 from 11-1 pm at Rawlings Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 1 pm. Following the service, the family will go in procession to Union Grove Cemetery where a grave side service will be held with Military Honors. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dale’s life.
