On Friday, November 19th, 2021, Velma Gibson Carter went to her heavenly home. Velma turned 86 on October 31st. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Velma was the oldest of 11 children. She retired from Zaire’s and Dollywood’s Candy Kitchen. She loved seeing new places and traveling, but most of all, she adored her friends and family. She spent her life giving and doing for others more than for herself. If you knew Velma, you knew love and selflessness. You also know that she is now happier than ever, with her parents, sisters, and, finally, holding her daughter, Kelly, for the first time.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, Earl And Lela Gibson; her 2nd born daughter, Kelley; 3 sisters.
She is survived by daughter Kathy Carter, grandchildren Kevin and Emily Burns, great grandchildren Hunter and Hannah, 4 brothers and 3 sisters, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Special thanks to her sister Kay and nieces, Christie and Debbie.
Funeral Service will be 12:00 noon., Tuesday November 23, 2021 at Rawlings Funeral Home with Rev. Ernie Coleman officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Rawlings Funeral Home prior to the service. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery.
