Zealy Andrew Jones Sr. was born in Eastern North Carolina in 1950. He passed away at home and went to be with the Lord on August 18, 2021. He attended Goldsboro High School, N.C., and graduated from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Psychology. He continued his education at Florida State University. Zealy served in the United States Air Force from 1971 – 1977. He retired from the Tallahassee Police Department in 2011 after twenty-seven years of service as a police officer. He retired to the Great Smokey Mountains where he enjoyed the gorgeous views, spending time with family, and taking care of his farm animals.
Zealy is survived by his wife and soulmate of nineteen years, Nancy Jones; brother, Raymond L. Jones Jr. (Gail); son Zealy A. Jones Jr. (Torre), daughter Audra J. Smith (Jonathan), son Zachary A. Jones and their mother, Kathy Richardson (Alan); stepsons TSgt. Sean Hilliard (Yuri), Joshua Hilliard and Daniel Hilliard; and four grandchildren: Jenna G. Smith, Jessica M. Smith, Johnny L. Smith, Kendall G. Jones, and Hana Hilliard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace Elizabeth Newsome Jones, and Raymond Leonard Jones Sr.
A private ceremony will be held for family and friends in Cades Cove, Townsend, TN, where he wished to have his cremains cast.
