Graduating from Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in 1970, Buddy Mayes has been in funeral services for over 40 years. As a licensed funeral director and embalmer, he purchased Brooks Mortuary with his father, Herbert W. Mayes, in 1972. Then in 2007 he had the opportunity to purchase several funeral homes in the East Tennessee area, allowing them to become independently owned and employee operated. In addition to the funeral home business, Buddy has served as President of the Tennessee State Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers and Boys and Girls Club, is current President of the Youth Emergency Shelter, and coordinated the disaster relief for victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Buddy is currently a member at First Baptist Church of Morristown and is heavily involved with his church.
